Bobbi Brown has surpassed all makeup brands this year and has released what I think is the absolute best eyeshadow palette for the new year.
I thought of many ways I could calmly and professionally, as I try to be on my blog, tell you why this palette is amazing, but I cannot help just blurting it all out ’cause I feel SO EXCITED. (!!!)
You see, I used to be quite the Bobbi Brown devotee. I discovered the brand at 13 years old when my best friend – who I had just met at the time – introduced me to her many Bobbi Brown makeup books and we’d pore over them. I’d be willing to say that it was what started my real love of makeup and beauty, actually.
However, over the years, Bobbi Brown discontinued some of our favorites, and because we were brand new to makeup, we had fun trying out all the other brands. (Meanwhile, I’m still mourning the death of my beloved Java eyeshadow and Coral Pink lip crayon, 2 of my all-time favorite makeup items, ever).
It was only after our trip to Paris this summer that my friend told me she’s “back on the Bobbi Brown bandwagon” because she cannot deny her first makeup love and she ordered I check them out again, ‘cause it’s still a really great brand.*
And this palette, called Bobbi’s Cools Eyeshadow Palette, has just confirmed it.
(Not to mention, it’s conjuring up feelings of nostalgia and first-makeup excitement, which I love.)
The shades (and how to use them)
As you can see, the shades are a mix of taupe, grey, lilacs and soft pinks, which gives a soft, everyday and/or smokey look, depending on what you want. Now the sparkly shadows: that’s where the “party”, “hot date” and even “New Year’s Eve” come in.
I suggest to use the neutral shadows as you would any eyeshadow palette, and then add in a slight wash of the sparkly shades on top. Or, just go full on glittery – the shadows are pigmented enough to wear alone. I would use an eye shadow primer with this palette though, and only pick up very small amount of the sparkly shadows, they can spread very easily.
With 12 shades of shadows – a few are highlighter shades, and the black is a powder eyeliner too – this will be your eyeshadow palette of 2016. I’m calling it! Or at least, it should be. I don’t want to gush, but I really am. It is just a perfect palette – there is nothing I would change about it. You can use it anywhere, for any occasion and is great for on the go and travel, because it’s super slim and light, and that tiny brush that comes in the palette? Don’t toss it, use it. It’s a really good brush.
A Travel Retail Exclusive
The Bobbi Brown Bobbi’s Cools Eye Palette is a travel retail exclusive, so grab this at all duty free and airports. Do it! You won’t regret it.
And with that, I shall end on a high note! Friends, I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. I’ll see you in 2016! (Or, in the meantime, I’m also on Instagram.)
* Other Bobbi Brown products you should check out: the bronzers and blushes, which are incredibly flattering, Shimmer Bricks (I just used it on a bride over the weekend and she loved it), Pot Rouge – the original lip/cheek product! – and definitely the BB cream, which I still think is one of the best out there.
