The other day I was out shoe shopping, in the most obscure of malls, when I spotted it: Bourjois!
Cue the inner squeals.
The cute French little drugstore makeup brand (which is owned by Chanel) has always been a favorite of mine. When I first started getting into makeup, at 15 years old, it was the one place I loved going for affordable yet cute – and well made – products.
Bourjois seems to be somewhat limited these days as I don’t see them around, well anywhere. Understandably, I guess, since drugstore makeup has so many new brands, but when I saw this small little stand, my eyes immediately caught it, and I dashed to it. And the first thing I tried to look for was their lipgloss called Effet 3D.
My best friend and I were obsessed with this lipgloss back in the day, when we were both 15/16 years old, haphazardly applying makeup every morning on the school bus (funnily enough, while my future husband sat behind us!). We each had our favorite color: my bestie’s, a neutral pink, and mine, a deep purple which in hindsight didn’t suit me at all, I have no idea what I was thinking.
But the lipgloss was – and is – amazing. It is comparable to the Chanels and the Diors and the MACs lipgloss, and although I was disappointed to see they did not have it at the place (I would’ve picked one up for sure). I think the brand is more focused on the UK market right now, so when you visit the UK or have friends in the UK, do check it out!
Effet 3D delivers mega shine, pigmented color and is very long-lasting and easy to use. Plus, it’s so affordable and cute! I remember too back in the day they would have mini versions with string keychains to attach to your cellphone for touchups – that’s how popular they were.
If you’re on the hunt for a lipgloss, definitely try to hunt Bourjois Effet 3D and give it a try.
P.S. The image in this post is the old packaging – they’ve updated it (naturally, it’s been 15 years!), but I just had to for nostalgia sake.
