What they say: “Whether you’re stressed at your desk, dehydrated after a long-haul flight or an all-night hedonist with hungover skin, cheat the appearance of 8 hours sleep with Charlotte’s Magic Cream, for a lasting dewy, plumped-up finish. It’s one of my seven wonders for your skin!”
My experience: There’s a new Magic Cream in town! (You may know the other, Egyptian Magic Cream, that I reviewed as well.)
But Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream really needs no introduction. Celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury launched her makeup line with this as its star skincare item, and has been used by pretty much every model, actress or celebrity in the industry. (It’s one of Lily James’ skincare secret, too!)
My very first look at Magic Cream was when I tested it in Harrod’s in London last summer, but I got to really see how it works just last week, when I got the opportunity to assist Andrea Claire, hair and makeup extraordinaire. And let’s just say I definitely regret not picking up a tub while I was in London now!
Using a generous amount on each models’ face, Andrea used it on both models last week and it was… well, for lack of a better word: magical. It gave the skin a luscious glow; a cool dewy finish that made skin look immensely hydrated. More youthful, even. Anything placed on top of the skin after, be it foundation, concealer or powder, ended up looking even better thanks to the plumped up skin underneath it. I was seriously amazed.
And it’s no surprise, really – a well prepped skin is what makes all the difference in makeup, and I reckon Magic Cream can fake that. As you can imagine though, it’s quite an expensive tub of moisturizer, so I reckon that daily use in a non-professional setting is not needed. Instead, save your tub (and your cash) and bring it out as a makeup base on those special occasions where the cameras will be everywhere.
