5 Cult Beauty Products Worth the Hype

1. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Maybelline’s iconic Great Lash mascara reportedly sells every 2 seconds, which is certainly quite impressive.

However, this is much to the confusion of many – this is what they call a “hit or a miss”. Some cannot live without it while some cannot even believe its popularity.

Whatever your take on it, I like it. In fact, I like it a lot.

It is a simple, no fuss, every day mascara. Its inky formula gives tons of length and its deep colour (or “Blackest Black” as they call it), leaves your lashes with a glossy finish. The spiral bristle brush takes some getting used to, but is amazing at separating lashes and preventing clumps.

Where to buy: Amazon.com, Ulta, Look Fantastic International.

2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer

This famous tub of yellow moisturizer sells every 4 seconds, and has been in every magazine award and hall of fame you can think of… especially mine.

I’ve used this moisturiser, the oil-free version at least – for many, many years and absolutely adore it.

A simple, no-fuss moisturizer that does what it says: moisturize.

While many moisturizers these days claim of anti aging properties and who-knows-what, Clinique’s DDM is still leading the pack being simple and easy to use. No breakouts, no greasiness, no problem. (They’ve also dated it recently to make it even better.)

Where to buy: Amazon.com, UltaSelfridges UK, Macy’s.

3. NARS Orgasm Blush

NARS’ Orgasm, as we last spoke about, is a classic cult favorite that propelled NARS Cosmetics into the spotlight.

This universally-flattery pinky peach blush, pictured above, gives a subtle, natural glow, while it’s tiny gold specks illuminates the skin. Truly a unique color that has launched a thousand copycats, this is one of the most – if not only – iconic blushes in the world.

My original review of it is here.

Where to buy: Amazon.com, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Space NK UK.

4. YSL Touch Eclat

Originally created as an illuminator and sold every 20 seconds, this product soon became a cult favorite when everyone decided it was an even better concealer.

It will hide any redness, dark areas and even blemishes, and if you do use it for it’s original purpose, brightens the eye area, the brow bone and gives cheekbones that incredible “glow”.

Where to buy: Amazon.com, Spring, Saks Fifth Avenue UK.

5. Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk Lip Liner

Confession: I am totally, completely obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury makeup. I watch all her Youtube videos, I love her personality, and her products look amazing.

So of course, my first product I had to try from her line is her very famous Pillowtalk Lip Liner. I’ll be writing a proper review on this one, but let’s just say: expensive (like her whole line!) but so, so worth the hype.

This is a fabulous lip liner that has excellent staying power, and the color is a gorgeous everyday, nude color (although I am quite fair, so it’s a touch too dark for me, so I just smudge it a bit, and the color lightens right up.)

Just the perfect everyday nude lip liner color that works.

Where to buy: Amazon.com, Selfridges, Bergdorf Goodman.

What do you think? Do you believe these cult beauty products worth the hype? Or do you have any other cult products to add? I’d love to hear them.
