The Truth About Cellulite

Women since the beginning of time (slight exaggeration), has been asking the question, “How do I get rid of cellulite?” How do you get rid of cellulite on your thighs? … Arms? … Stomach?

And I’m afraid I have some bad news.

Are you ready? You might want to sit down for this one: The answer is you can’t. You can’t get rid of cellulite.

That’s right – throw away your cellulite creams, because those companies are just laughing at us all!

I saw an episode from Dr. Oz online recently and had to pass on the bad news, so don’t believe any miracle creams or gimmicks: there is nothing on the market that will help get rid of cellulite, despite it being a $3 billion dollar industry today. If anything, these creams and procedures only mask the surface of the skin temporarily, and they don’t last.

The problem with cellulite is that the cause is not on the surface – the fat cells swell as they suck in fat to grow larger, which causes the look and feel of cellulite. So to get to the root of the problem, you’d have to get to your fat cells! Dr. Oz also famously said it on Oprah: “You can’t put a cream on and get inside the fat cell.”

Sigh. I’ve tried cellulite creams in the past because I’m starting to get it, and while it made my skin look more “taunt”, nothing really helped. So this makes total sense to me.

  5. No help for cellulite! Darn! Oh well, now we have to exercise and eat well. It’s better for the long road ahead anyways.

  6. Don’t want it to be true. All of us are looking for that miracle that might be out there somewhere. But what some of us don’t think about along with trying to get that body by using chemicals on our skin and in our bodies we are doing much harm to ourselves than good.

  7. First time to your blog.

I totally agree with Dr. Oz. Cellulite can’t be eliminate with just a bottle of cream. After studying cellulite for months, I realized that it can be ‘relief’ but not really disappearing it. Natural methods to relief it are such as exercise regularly, have a healthy lifestyle, massage the areas often. Many individuals have reported that it improve the situation. Sad news is that none of them mentioned it could totally gone. But relieving is better. And this can be easily done by living a healthy lifestyle.

  8. Saw Dr. Oz show – walked out the room to check on my boiling water, when I got back the cellulite part of the show was over. Later, Checked the section on cellulite and he talks about genes and methods that don’t work, on a topic about how to get rid of cellulite. His article was confusing.

  9. I love Dr. Oz hahahahaha, unfortunaly that’s true. And thank God I’ve never spent almost any money on expensive cellulite creams because they can’t solve the problem forever. They may help for a while, and reduce cellulite but… Dr. oz is right about that, and he is always right. =//

  10. I don’t think this is true. I know he is a Dr, but I was doing research via the internet myself and the problem with cellulite is that when we have toxins in our body – our body protects itself by placing water and fat around the toxins. This in return creates cellulite. You know how when you diet and lose weight and then gain it back? That’s because you didn’t detox your body first. If the toxins are still there then you’re body will just keep protecting itself. This is why you must first detox, then diet and exercise. There is hope..
