There are always some product reviews that are hard to write.
I’ve always said, for my blog, that if some random product that no one knows about is truly horrible, then I won’t waste a whole post on it and would rather mention it somewhere else, especially if asked.
The exception, though, is when some are so hyped up and I personally think it isn’t worth the hype, so of course I will tell you. Like now, although… I don’t even know if this is a good or bad review.
Actually, it’s both.
I first tried Mail and Tail Shampoo after receiving two complimentary sample packet – one for their shampoo, and one for their conditioner – as a gift with purchase, most probably from the drugstore. This was a few years ago, and I remember absolutely loving the product and bought a bottle. Once that bottle was done, though, the brand seemed to disappear from the shelves and I eventually forgot about it.
Fast forward to a few months ago, where I spotted the brand in a remote drugstore in a mall I hardly ever go to, but was somehow there that day. I was thrilled! I bought not one, but 4 bottles – insane, right? Yes, especially because when I used it this time, it gave me mad dandruff. Which is a shame, because my hair was soft and smooth… but just really flaky.
They are fantastic products, don’t get me wrong, but I had never had dandruff before and I don’t enjoy it, so I can’t give them the praise I once did years ago. (Thankfully I treated my scalp with coconut oil and the dandruff is all gone, so I reckon my scalp was probably just sensitive to the shampoo.)
So – if you’re in the market for an affordable shampoo that really makes your hair incredible, would I recommend Mane and Tail? Yes, I would. Because when I first tried it, it really was great. And I am not sure if maybe I got a bad batch (they did look pretty old and forgotten on the shelf…). Hmm.
In other words, what I’m trying to say in this post is, try at your own risk!
