Who’s the Most Beautiful Person You Know?

I had a makeup post lined up for today, but I was reading my daily devotional that I get to my e-mail and had to re-post this. It is simply beautiful.

It’s said the public relations department of a beauty products company asked its customers to send pictures along with brief letters, describing the most beautiful women they knew. Thousands of letters came in. One caught the attention of the employees and was passed on to the president.

It was written by a boy from a broken home who lived in a run-down neighbourhood. With lots of spelling errors, an excerpt from his letter read: ‘A beautiful woman lives down the street from me. I visit her every day. She makes me feel like the most important kid in the world. We play checkers and she listens to my problems. She understands me. When I leave she always yells out the door that she’s proud of me.’ The boy ended his letter saying, ‘This picture shows you that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and one day I hope to have a wife as pretty as her.’

Intrigued, the president asked to see the woman’s picture. His secretary handed him a photograph of a smiling, toothless woman, well advanced in years, sitting in a wheelchair. Sparse grey hair was pulled back in a bun. The wrinkles that formed deep furrows on her face were somehow diminished by the twinkle in her eyes.

‘We can’t use this woman,’ said the president, smiling. ‘She would show the world that our products aren’t necessary to be beautiful.’

We discussed many topics of inner beauty in the past, and I’ve loved all of our self-esteem and self-love posts, so I want to ask you today: Who’s the most beautiful person you know?

For me, it’s a tie – I just can’t choose! The most beautiful people I know are definitely my parents!

  1. That’s a lovely post, Renee! I’m torn too, I can’t decide who the most beautiful person I know is, I’m surrounded by them. 🙂

  2. Love this post. Word for Today! I read this yesterday as well.

I think my parents are the most beautiful people I know too. Thinking about it, maybe how much we feel a person genuinely loves us would have a major part to play in how beautiful they are to us 🙂

    1. Hehe, yeah Glo it’s Word of the Day! I agree, I also think their kindness and patience in nurturing, teaching and ‘being there for us’ plays a big role as well 🙂

  3. That’s a really good story 🙂

I can’t pick either. Everyone in my family is beautiful. But base on looks only, my sister wins. Next to her, I feel like a zero.

  4. What a cute and inspiring story. I agree its definatley inner beauty that makes the a woman beautiful, that being said my mother is the most beautiful woman I know inside and out!

  5. That’s a great letter! I’m so touched. I think smiles are the most beautiful thing ever, you can be pretty on the outside but with a cold and unhappy disposition, you still won’t be beautiful.

    1. Ah, yes! I think I’ve already written before somewhere on the blog that smiling makes everyone beautiful. It gives the face such warmth and beauty. You can’t help but smile as well! I agree, smiles are the most beautiful thing in the world 🙂

  6. That’s such a cute story! Or maybe Mr. President knew about the grey hair trend that’s going on 🙂
