Late last year, while driving to work, I heard my first song on the radio from We Are the In Crowd, You’re On Your Own, and immediately got hooked. I loved it and it seemed to be played at the same time everyday, so every morning I would be singing along.
So it was really cool when I heard that the band was coming to Singapore, and earlier this week I had the chance to do a quick interview – it was literally a minute, this time! – with Taylor Jardine, the lead singer. She talks style, music… and of course, makeup.
Welcome to Singapore! What is a We Are the In Crowd concert like?
Thank you! It’s our first time [in Singapore] and we’re very excited. Our shows are fun and energetic. We want everyone involved.
A lot of girls (especially me…) dream about being in a rock band. What’s it like being in a band full of guys?
It’s awesome. They’re like big brothers. [By the way, Taylor’s “big brothers” are: Mike Ferri (bass), Cameron Hurley (guitar), Jordan Eckes (guitar and vocals) and Rob Chianelli (drums).]
I really like your style! Do you have any style influences?
Thanks! I love how Kelly Osborne and Gwen Stefani dress. But I never dress much like them. Just take small ideas here and there. I like to be comfortable on tour.
My site is predominantly a beauty site, so we’d love to know – what are some of your favorite makeup products? Does it change when you go on stage to your “everyday” makeup?
I use Makeup Forever HD foundation, LORAC liquid eye liner, Maybelline mascara, Smashbox shadows and Cover Girl powder, Revlon blush. I use water proof everything! Sweating on stage… it’s a must!
For those who are new to your band and want to check WATIC out, what is the one song you would tell them to listen to first.
Probably Never Be What You Want, and Rumor Mill. I feel like both of those are songs that have a good blend of our sound.
Lastly, what’s next for WATIC?
Tour!!! UK/Europe, Manila, Malaysia, Warped Tour. We will be working on new material this year too.
Thanks, Taylor! We Are The In Crowd’s album, Best Intentions is out in stores now – check it out! And special thanks to Hopeless Records SEA and my friend, Sameer Sadhu for this opportunity.
