This has been a long time coming, but I’m finally gonna talk about a hair “secret” of mine that makes my damaged hair super soft, smooth and shiny. It has completely revived my very damaged hair, especially after many hair experiments such as my disaster digital perm.
Here’s why it is THE best coconut oil:
- Coconut oil is one of the only oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft, so you know it will work
- It contains lemon, an astringent that controls sebum (that can cause dandruff), henna to make your hair color “richer” (if you haven’t dyed it) and other herbs
- Makes my hair super shiny and soft
- Makes my hair stronger after all the damage
- Easy to apply
And here’s why it NOT the best:
- It’s a real stinker!
I really love the scent of coconut, however, this coconut oil and normal the coconut smell is very different, with this coconut oil being extremely pungent. Think of it as coconut that has gone bad for 5 years. It is so pungent that once, I decided to apply some of it to my hair and went to bed. The stench was all around me (I didn’t even put that much!) and my sinuses acted up like crazy.
I’ve learnt my lesson: only apply a very small amount on freshly washed, slightly damp hair. This allows the oil to dry as your hair dries, so it’s fully soaked in and you won’t know it’s there.
Also, it’s only S$3.95 and you can buy it at Little India in Singapore, or online here.
P.S. Apparently, beer shampoo is great for shiny hair, too.
